You can compare football prediction sites without placing a bet. A structured observation period lets you examine publication timing, record completeness and practical usability while keeping your money out of the experiment. The aim is to learn how each service behaves, not to manufacture a profitable strategy from a short run.

The following 30-day worksheet is an editorial review process. Thirty days is a convenient organising window, not a statistically sufficient sample or a certificate of reliability. A quiet month and a busy tournament produce very different amounts of evidence.

Set the comparison rules before the first fixture

Choose two or three websites you can realistically review. Specify the competition, market and publication cutoff. For example, you could observe every listed league fixture for one defined market and save the available forecast at the same relative time before kickoff.

Do not change the inclusion rules after seeing which matches won. If a website does not publish a forecast for an eligible fixture, record the absence. A comparison based only on matches for which every site has a convenient winning example creates a different and potentially misleading sample.

Use one row per website and forecast version

FieldWhat to save
Fixture and marketCompetition, teams, kickoff timezone, market, line and settlement period
Original forecastSelection or published probabilities, copied without reinterpretation
TimingDisplayed publication time and your own observation time
EvidenceSource URL and a private dated capture for your review
RevisionChanged field, discovery time and the provider’s explanation
OutcomeConfirmed result, settlement status and any unresolved issue

A screenshot is useful for your notes, but it does not by itself establish independent proofing. Do not republish paid material or other people’s photographs as part of a public comparison without the necessary permission.

Keep availability separate from correctness

Suppose your fictional review contains 20 predefined fixtures. Site A provides forecasts for 18 and Site B for 12. Their availability in that review is 90% and 60%, respectively. Nothing in those two figures tells you which site predicted outcomes better.

Maintain separate counts for published forecasts, missing forecasts, unresolved fixtures and eligible settled forecasts. Compare the same market under the same rules. Do not score a missing forecast as a loss unless that was explicitly part of a different, clearly explained operational measure.

Review the record weekly without rewriting the test

At the end of each week, reconcile fixtures and statuses. Check for postponed matches, duplicate rows, timezone mistakes and later corrections. Preserve the original value when a provider changes a selection; add a revision row rather than replacing the evidence you saved.

If your own recording process fails, mark the affected rows incomplete. Do not reconstruct a pre-match prediction from a post-match page and pretend you observed it earlier. A gap in your notes is a limitation of the review, not automatically a fault in the website.

You may stop the review if the service becomes inaccessible or its terms are unsuitable. Record the reason and the actual observation dates. There is no requirement to buy access, extend the test or place a stake to complete this exercise.

Write a limited conclusion at the end

Summarise what you could verify: coverage of your chosen fixture list, clarity of publication times, availability of original records, handling of corrections and usefulness of explanations. Report unresolved entries alongside the headline counts. If you calculate a success rate, disclose its market and denominator.

A responsible conclusion is specific: “Across this league and period, Site A’s records were easier to reconcile, while Site B supplied more explanatory text.” Avoid turning a short observation into “the most reliable site forever.” Review prediction quality over an appropriate longer dataset before making a stronger claim.

Use our website reliability checklist for the initial shortlist and the model backtest guide when a provider relies on historical simulations. A prospective observation record and a backtest answer different questions; keep their results separate.
