Before the first X1 pick starts, you should know whether you can fund the whole sequence. Under the standard OptaTips example, the stakes are $500, $1,000, $2,000, $4,000 and $8,000. If all five legs lose, the combined loss is $15,500.
The $8,000 shown at X5 is only the final stake. It is not the full amount at risk. The arithmetic gets uncomfortable fast, which is exactly why the maximum loss belongs next to the win rate. In the August 2026 example, 30 winning Series were not enough to keep the month out of loss.
Short answer: one full sequence needs 31 base stakes
With a $500 base stake, the arithmetic is $500 + $1,000 + $2,000 + $4,000 + $8,000 = $15,500. This is the amount needed to place every scheduled stake once if each earlier leg loses.
It is not a recommendation that anyone should risk $15,500. It is a funding requirement for that specific example. The Series membership fee is a separate service cost and does not count as betting bankroll.
Set the maximum loss first, then divide it by 31 to find the largest base stake that fits that limit. Do not choose the X1 amount first and hope to find the money for X4 or X5 later.
Calculate your X1-X5 bankroll
Change the base stake or maximum planned loss. The calculator keeps both values aligned with the standard 1-2-4-8-16 progression and shows how Hong Kong odds affect each possible exit.
| Leg | Stake | Previous losses | Total if this leg loses | Net if this leg wins | Break-even HK odds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| X1 | $500 | $0 | $500 | $460 | 0.0000 |
| X2 | $1,000 | $500 | $1,500 | $420 | 0.5000 |
| X3 | $2,000 | $1,500 | $3,500 | $340 | 0.7500 |
| X4 | $4,000 | $3,500 | $7,500 | $180 | 0.8750 |
| X5 | $8,000 | $7,500 | $15,500 | $-140 | 0.9375 |
Formula: At X5, 8,000 x 0.92 - 7,500 = -140.
This is a mathematical planning tool, not a stake recommendation or a profit guarantee. Real odds, limits, voids and settlement rules can change the outcome. Membership fees are separate from betting bankroll.
How the X1-X5 stake progression adds up
| Leg | Current stake | Previous losses | Total loss if this leg loses | Net if this leg wins at HK 1.00 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| X1 | $500 | $0 | -$500 | +$500 |
| X2 | $1,000 | -$500 | -$1,500 | +$500 |
| X3 | $2,000 | -$1,500 | -$3,500 | +$500 |
| X4 | $4,000 | -$3,500 | -$7,500 | +$500 |
| X5 | $8,000 | -$7,500 | -$15,500 | +$500 |
The table assumes every earlier leg lost, every stake follows the standard doubling schedule, and the winning price is Hong Kong odds of 1.00. A live Series may record different stakes or odds. Use the values shown on that Series, not the illustration, when checking a result.
Why doubling does not guarantee a $500 profit
OptaTips records use Hong Kong odds. At HK 0.92, a winning $8,000 stake produces $7,360 in profit before earlier losses are included. The returned $8,000 stake is not counted as profit.
Series net profit is the sum of all settled leg results. If X1 through X4 lost, X5 starts with $7,500 already lost. An X5 win at HK 0.92 therefore finishes at -$140:
-$7,500 + ($8,000 × 0.92) = -$140
At HK 0.95, the same X5 win finishes at +$100. At HK 1.00, it finishes at +$500. The X5 break-even price is HK 0.9375. A winning X5 can therefore leave the Series negative, so the final status and final net profit must be read together.
How to scale the plan to a different bankroll
Let the base stake be B. The five stakes are B, 2B, 4B, 8B and 16B. The maximum full-sequence loss is:
B + 2B + 4B + 8B + 16B = 31B
| Base stake | X5 stake | Maximum loss across X1-X5 |
|---|---|---|
| $10 | $160 | $310 |
| $50 | $800 | $1,550 |
| $100 | $1,600 | $3,100 |
| $500 | $8,000 | $15,500 |
The ratio stays the same in any currency. If your personal maximum loss for one Series is L, the largest mathematical base stake is L divided by 31. A lower base stake reduces the dollar loss, but it does not remove the chance of losing all five legs.
What to check before following a live Series
- Confirm that the full 31B amount is available before X1. Do not rely on an expected win to fund a later leg.
- Read the actual stake and Hong Kong odds on the current board. They may differ from the standard illustration.
- Stop when the published sequence closes. Adding an X6 changes both the method and the maximum loss.
- Keep your own running total of losses and profit instead of judging the Series by its final win or loss label alone.
- Do not use money needed for bills, debt payments or emergencies.
The live Consigli di calcio in serie board shows the current sequence. The Statistics page shows settled outcomes, including losing Series. If that arithmetic fits your limit, the current Series membership terms explain what access includes. The fee pays for access; it does not fund the stakes or make the progression safe.
What this calculation does not promise
This guide explains the published stake structure and settlement formula. It does not predict the next result, guarantee recovery after a loss, or define a safe bankroll for every person.
Only adults who can legally bet where they live should consider using a betting service. If the full planned loss would affect essential spending or cause financial stress, the sequence is outside your limit.
